I want to do my own invitations in an attempt to save money. Did anyone else design their own and print them themselves? If so, what kind of printer (brand, etc.) do you have? I know the printer I have is not good enough quality because it’s so old. Would it be cost effective to just buy a new printer and do my invitations myself? Any advice would be appreciated!

You could go to a computer store and ask them to run a sample through various printers. Take your own paper on which you plan to print the invites. They should at least do that before expecting you to spend what I think could be several hundred dollars.
I would check out a local print shop, such as Kinko’s/FedEx. Ask them to do the same. Then compare prices.

I think What I did for my wedding invitations was I printed the wording on a regular sheet of paper, found some nice cardstock on clearance at an office supply store and copied it on at Kinkos. I think I spent less than $40 altogether for 100 invitations.

I did mine on a regular ol’ printer. It is a lexmark 3 in 1 I bought about 4 years ago. Mine came out great ad I got a lot of compliments.
